The above video is a a mixture between a prank and a social media experiment. Jack Vale goes out in his area and finds people who have tagged where they are. Before going up to them, he looked at the rest of their profile to gather general information about them. All the information obtained was public.
The people he was talking to where freaking out as to how he knew all this information about them.
A video like this is funny to watch, but it should be a wake-up call to how public some of our information is. People can track you down so easily and this can lead to bad experiences. So while we may want to show off where we are, we should make sure that it is only posted to people we trust, or at least ensure that it is posted later, when you have left the place.
Social media is so quick and instant that it makes us forget the most important things, like privacy settings. Instead we just write a post and put it up online without thinking of who may see it. This video is a good wake-up call to be more careful of our online privacy settings!
